I have managed to squeeze doing previews for the CC matches. I'll split them into days so the Saturday previews will be up on Friday night and Sunday previews will be up on Saturday night. Priority will be given to matches involving Super League teams (sorry!). I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to clubs that aren't in Super League.
Enjoy...
Friday 6th May 2011.
Gateshead Thunder v Harlequins RL
Venue: International Stadium, Gateshead
KO: 20:00
Referee: C Halloran
Teams:
Gateshead Thunder (17 from): Brown, Williams, Ward, Stevens, Peers, Condron, Clarke, Parker, Hodgson, Staveley, Stoker, Kelly, Bate, Morris, Payne, Welton, O'Sullivan, Massey, Love
Harlequins RL (17 from): Ambler, Bolger, Burnett, Calderwood, Clubb, Bryan, Ellis, Gale, Howell, Koupartisas, Melling, Krasniqi, O'Callaghan, Sarginson, Randall, Temata, Ward, Wilkes, Williams.
Harlequins make the long journey up to the North East of England to play Gateshead on Friday night. They will be seeking to return to winning ways as they are without a victory in 8 matches. Luke Dorn is out injured and their two loan players, Karl Pryce and Lee Mitchell, are cup tied.
Quins' lack of form is incomparable with Gateshead's though, they haven't won in over a year and are rock bottom of Championship One. It's a bit disheartening as a fan when their last match was a "much improved performance" but they still lost by 54 points to 10.
The two sides haven't met since Quins', or as they were then the London Broncos, victory at Gateshead, the score was 28-22 on that day.
You'd have to go with Harlequins to progress to the fifth round and return to winning ways. Stranger things have happened, yes, but I wouldn't put someone else's money on Gateshead to win this one.
Leigh Centurions v Catalans Dragons.
Venue: Leigh Sports Village
KO: 20:00
Referee: J Child
I have no team news at the moment, but I will update this prior to the match when I receive the teams.
Catalans are unbeaten in 6 and are looking to continue their current run of form. They got to the semi finals last year only to be beaten by eventual winners, Warrington at that stage of the competition. Their form may be good but Leigh are the only unbeaten side in all competitions so far this year and could be a major threat to the French side.
The only team news I know is that Catalans will be without Daryl Millard and Steve Menzies again as they are both still out through injury.
If anyone has the 19 man squads, that I cannot find anywhere! Please send me a link on my twitter page, or leave a comment on this post!
